There are two main types of pumps for lawn sprinkler systems.

Centrifugal pumps-
These are typically mounted in the boathouse or on a pad. These pumps need to be winterized each year before the first freeze or severe damage can occur.

Submersible pumps-
These pumps are typically installed under water in the lake. Submersible pumps do cost more but tend to be more reliable and need less maintenance.

These pumps can be used year round and do not need to be winterized.
